The Rotary Club of Mango City Malda, Club Code - 73486, is named after one of the most significant cities in North Bengal, known for its mango harvesting - "City of Mango", Malda. The club was chartered in 2006, referred by RC Burdwan. Under the leadership of Rtn. Nataraj Mukherjee as charter president, the members of Mango City have made significant contributions to the community, extending beyond Rotary District 3240. Our current president, Dr. Gautam Kundu, continues to lead the club in noble works. We gather with our members every Friday at 8 pm at IMA Bhawan in Malda. We currently have 26 members, including 3 lady members and 3 honorary members. In addition to our annual activities, we have currently 6 running permanent projects supported by our members and District 3240. Notable projects under community service include Clubfoot Camps & Monthly Follow-Up Clinics, Free Lung Camps, Hba1c Check-up Camps, Bone Mineral Density Test Camps, and an Adult Literacy Centre at Nimasarai Harasundari Primary School, Malda. Furthermore, we have implemented a Groundwater Recharge system and a Mini Vermi Compost production Unit utilizing midday meal waste from the same school. In an effort to empower women in the community, we have established Vocational Sewing Centres such as Swayamsampurna- in loving memory of our late members Rtn. Tapan Das, Rtn. Swapan Kr. Banerjee and Dr. Kirti Ranjan Dey & Mrs. Subinita Dey Memorial Charitable Vocational Sewing Training School, where we conduct weekly Sewing Classes - in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club of Malda. Our members not only dedicate their time and effort but also contribute regularly to the Rotary Foundation and Polio Fund. In the year 2012-2013, we were recognized as a 100% PHF Club within the Rotary community, with 17 of our members being Paul Harris Fellows. To date, a total of $51,083 has been contributed by our members to the Rotary Fund. We also make regular contributions to the Polio Fund to support the global fight against the disease. This year, we were recognized as the 20th Ten Dollar Club in District 3240, with all members contributing at least $10 towards the Polio Fund. We have been fortunate to receive multiple district grants thus far, primarily for our flagship project, the Clubfoot Camp. This initiative aims to assist children with clubfoot by free treatment and providing them with free splint shoes. We are proud to share that this project has been recognized as a Noble project in District 3240. Not only in District 3240, but our members have significantly impacted the larger Rotary Community. One of our esteemed members, PDG Rtn. Dr. Tapan Kr. Ray, had the honour of representing our district at the Council of Legislation. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Past President Rtn. Dr. Himachal Das has been appointed as Assistant Governor of Zone IV for the upcoming Rotary year. With him and leadership of our upcoming President Rtn. Dr. Abhijit Acharyya, we are confident that we will further enhance our services and efforts.
